The Aztecs lived from around the 13th century to the 16th century in what is nowadays called as Mexico. Even while they were merely around for a few centuries, they left at the back a set of wonderful art, much of which is the motivation for Aztec tattoo designs.  Religion played a significant role in everyday Aztec life, and practically whole thing they did was done in order to please their gods in some way.
They were done during rituals as a way to honor a definite god. The designs were all dissimilar, and were used to distinguish between the distinct tribes. Aztec tattoos designs were also used as a way to mark an individual’s status, as class structure was significant. A warrior, for instance, would get a tattoo designed specially to appear a warrior’s accomplishments and rank.
